There are several options available for people seeking to be sponsored and employed by an Australian employer.  These include:

Temporary Skilled Shortage (TSS) Visa

The subclass 482 - Temporary  Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa is a temporary visa which permits the holder to live in Australia, while working full- time for the sponsoring employer, in the nominated position.

TSS visa holders can work in Australia in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor under one of three stream:

  • the Short -Term stream

  • the Medium - Term stream

  • the Labour Agreement stream

Permanent Employer Sponsored Migration

The objective of the Permanent Employer Sponsored Program is to enable Australian employers to sponsor highly skilled foreign workers who are currently in Australia on a temporary basis or located outside of Australia for permanent residence to fill vacancies in their business.

There are two employer sponsored visa categories:

  • Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS), and
  • Subclass 187 – Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS).

Both the ENS and RSMS have two application stages:

  • Nomination by an employer; and
  • Visa application by the nominee/visa applicant.
